Hello there! π
If you have read my Liebster Award entry, you will find a random fact about me that there’s not a year that will pass that I don’t get sore throat… Well, this year, it is now… Unfortunately, this year is the worst so far. Strepsils doesn’t work (usually takes the pain away, but not now). I find it so hard to swallow, may it be solid food or water. This is so devastating!!! I can’t eat rice or bread because when I swallow, it scratches the painful part. It feels like my throat has blisters or cuts then when I swallow (water for example), its like rubbing it together… EXCRUCIATING!!!
So there, because of that feeling, I had to find a way to somehow eat and drink with lesser of that pain and more of the happy side of eating (mainly because I have to ingest food so to not affect my liver or is it the kidneys when you drink antibiotics?? Haha!)… π
My sister, Calitots, and I went to SM Mall Of Asia to look for a place to eat… π [We have extra money now because she gets an allowance for going to school, and I also get an allowance –smaller amount but its perfectly fine– just by bringing her to school, waiting for her and accompanying her back to our house… :-)]
We thought, “So… where haven’t we eaten yet??” We looked around then saw Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe… π We have seen this before but haven’t really tried it. So finally, we did… π Since rice and viand isn’t really an option for me at this moment, I ordered Braised Beef Brisket Soup Noodles and my ever-favorite Hakaw (shrimp dumpling), while my sister ordered their Cheese Baked Rice with Porkchop… π
Here they are:
*Braised Beef Brisket Soup Noodles – The first time this dish came, it wasn’t hot. I mean, it’s not “not hot enough”, it really wasn’t hot at all. We called the waitstaff and requested for it to be heated again. When it came, my sister and I tasted it together… π The beef was really tender… π The Bokchoy was cooked exactly how I like it: neither raw nor wilted… π Umm, the extender (radish) bothered me a bit at first because I initially thought it was another vegetable, but in general,it was okay… π I’m just not use to eating it with beef and noodles together… π The broth was at first odd. We tried to figure what it was because it tasted like vegetables, pork and beef. We concluded that it may be a mixture of the three but we were wrong… While getting a spoonful of soup, we saw a fish head. So there… The soup is a mixture or everything edible I guess… π I thought the taste was a bit weird, personally… π But hey, try it for yourself.. π
*The “heavenly” Hakaw – I like it a lot… β€ Its really flavorful… π Could use a little more sesame oil but the taste was very good… π A "should try" for me… π
*Cheese Baked Rice with Porkchop – If your a mozzarella lover like me, this dish suits you! π Love the generosity with the cheese! The tomato sauce was okay; its more of the Italian style rather than the Filipino style sauce (which is good! Haha!)… π the pork chop was really thin, but big so that’s a good point I guess… π Their rice, if I’m not mistaken, was cook with stock… π Nice effort… π
Until our next “foodie escape”… π
